** We are not currently recruiting participants for this study **
This study is investigating a procedure called fMRI neurofeedback among women with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and comparing between women with and without PTSD. We are currently recruiting a subset of participants who will not be scanned.
You may be eligible for participation if you are a female between the ages of 21 and 50 years old, who does not have a history of trauma or current mental health concerns, and are able to understand and speak English.
You may NOT participate if you have a history of: brain damage, seizures, ASD (Autism) or other developmental delay, or a current serious and unstable medical condition.
For this subset, participants will come to the Psychiatry Department at UW for one visit. This visit involves a structured, clinical interview and a series of questionnaires. These interviews and questionnaires will ask questions about physical abuse, sexual abuse, or other traumatic events you might have experienced and also ask about mental health and behaviors such as drug and alcohol use. The purpose of this assessment is to determine eligibility for the study and to understand whether differences in health symptoms are related to brain differences. At the visit, participants also complete computer-based tasks and provide blood and saliva samples.
Participants will receive $60 for their involvement in the study.
